The Akeidah - It Doesn't Make Sense

A midrash by David and Isaac.

One day when I woke up, my father told me that we were going to climb Mount Moriah for three days, make a sacrifice, and them come home.

He took two of his young servants and cleaved wood for his offering. And so we headed up Mount Moriah.

Halfway up, I asked my father, "Where is the animal to sacrifice?" He said, "G-d will provide the sacrifice a the top."

This didn't sound right and I started to get suspicious. We were heading up a mountain on short notice. We didn't have an animal to sacrifice and G-d was supposed to provide it. I wondered what was going to be sacrificed.

When we got to the top, my father built an alter and laid wood on it.

I thought, "Why is my Dad trying to kill me instead of a ram?!! This is making no sense! Then again, it never did."

All of a sudden, an angel appeared out of the sky. It told my Dad not to slay me and he would be one with the Lord.

Then, when I got untied, we found a ram stuck in the thicket and sacrificed that instead of me.

THE END.
